Rename Destination Files Dialog

You may want to modify the original name of a file as it is processed by the Task. You can change the name of a file using the Rename Destination Files dialog. When changing the name, you can create a new name that is static (e.g. file.txt) or one that contains date and time elements that will be added when the Task is run.

A sample of a file name that will be created is automatically displayed below the text box as you make entries in the field.

To create a static file name, simply enter the name in the text box (e.g. file.txt with a destination file name of file1.txt will become file1.txt when the Task is run).

To create a date/time stamped destination file name for a single file, you can enter static text and date/time elements in the text field by clicking on the appropriate buttons (e.g. file.txt with a destination file name of file_%MONMON%%DD%%YYYY%.txt will become file_04202006.txt if the Task is run on 4/20/2006).

If you want to change the names of all the files in the folder, all files in the folder and all subfolders, or files matching a file mask, you can create new destination file names for all the files by combining the Source File Root and/or Source File Extension and date/time elements in the text box. This process will take the Source File Root of each file (the name of the original file up to the .) and append to this name whatever date/time fields you have selected to create the new file name (e.g. file.txt with a destination file name of %FILENAME%_%MONMON%%DD%%YYYY%%EXT% will become file_04202006.txt if the Task is run on 4/20/2006; the next assigned file, let's say file2.doc, will become file2_04202006.doc and so on).
