FTP Delete Task Dialog

You use the FTP Delete Task dialog to configure a Task which involves deleting one or more files from a remote FTP server. The following sections explain the function and configuration of each field in the dialog.

Task ID
This field is generated by the application. It is the unique numeric identifier that the program uses to keep track of each Task. No configuration is necessary.

File Action
This field displays the type of Task that you are currently configuring.

Task Name
Use this field to give a unique name to the Task that you are currently configuring. Make sure to name your Tasks in a way that will easily identify them in the Task list window.

Task Description
Use this field to give a more detailed description of the Task that you are currently configuring.

FTP Server Logon Account
Use this field to select the account information (user name and password) that will be used by the application to make the connection to the FTP server. You can add a new account here if you do not have one that has the correct credentials already in the list.

FTP Server Name Or IP Address
Use this field to specify the FTP server address information e.g. ftp.company.com or 192.168.7.45. You do not need to enter ftp:// in front of the name.

SSL Setting
Use this field to specify whether you are going to connect to a standard or secure FTP server. For secure FTP Servers, the NTS File Mover supports Implicit and Explicit FTP connections using SSL (ftps). You will need to obtain the specific settings for the secure FTP server from the server administrator. Both Implicit and Explicit FTP connection types will attempt to verify the SSL certificate that the secure FTP server presents when the connection attempt is made. If you want to make sure that the SSL certificate on the server that you are connecting to is completely valid before you transfer any files, select an option that includes the Verify All Certificates label. If you are willing to transfer files to a FTP server that has a SSL certificate that may have one or more pieces of incorrect information (e.g. an incorrect organization name or an expiration date that has passed), select an option that includes the Accept All Certificates label.

Port
Use this field to specify the numeric port being used by the FTP server. The port used by most standard FTP servers is 21. For Implicit SSL, the port is usually 990. The port for Explicit SSL can vary. You should get the correct port value for any type of connection from the FTP server administrator.

Transfer Mode
Use this field to select the mode of file transfer that you are making. Most FTP transfers are made using Passive mode (the default) particularly if the computer where the NTS File Mover is running is behind a firewall. Active mode connections are used infrequently. In an Active mode connection, the FTP server attempts to make a direct connection back to the client machine on a different port. Most network firewalls will not allow this kind of connection to be made. You should get the correct Transfer Mode value from the FTP server administrator.

FTP Server Source Folder
Use this field to set the folder from which the Task is going to delete the file(s). Click the Browse button to select a folder on the FTP server. You may also type a valid folder path into the field directly.

Assigned Files
Use this field to assign one or more files to the Task. You can right click on a Source File Name in this list to unassign the file from the list of files to be processed by the Task. Click the Browse button (or right click on a Source File Name) to launch the Assign File(s) To Task dialog where you can edit the list of assigned files. File Date Range
Click this button to launch a dialog that allows you to limit the date range of files that will be included in the Task. For more information about this feature, please refer to the Task Files Date Range section of this help file.
